Colorectal (bowel) cancer is the second biggest killer in the developed world, but survival rates soar to over 95% when diagnosed early. It is described as “one of the easiest cancers to cure if caught on time” by Bowel Cancer Research.
Our scan can help you prevent colorectal cancer by detection and removal of its precursor, the colon polyp.
You should consider a CT Colon if you are over 35 or have one or more of the following symptoms or risk factors:
• Family history of cancer
• A change in your bowel habits, including diarrhea or constipation or a change in the consistency of your stool, that lasts longer than four weeks
• Rectal bleeding or blood in your stool
• Persistent abdominal discomfort, such as cramps, gas or pain
• Feeling that your bowel doesn’t empty completely
• Weakness or fatigue
• Weight loss
How it works:
The patient lies in the scanner and computerised images of the heart are acquired in a matter of minutes, using a low dose of radiation.
